Meganisi is a Greek island and municipality immediately to the east-southeast of the island of Lefkada. The municipality includes the offshore islands of Skorpios and Sparti. The municipality has an area of 22.356 km. Its total population was 1,041 at the 2011 census.

The island has three villages: the central village of Katomeri and the ports of Vathy and Spartochori. There is also a harbour at Atheni Bay used mainly by fishing boats. Meganisi is connected with Lefkada by a car ferry service from Vathy and Spartochori. Meganisi has a school, a lyceum, an ATM, churches and a few squares.

There are only two organized beaches in Meganisi, Spilia and Fanari, all the rest are without facilities and very quiet. The coastline of the island forms many ideal bays for swimming, all one has to do is explore and surely find the ideal place. Ambelakia, Atherinos, Pasoumaki, Limonari, Elia are some of the options, otherwise there is Agios Ioannis, perhaps the best beach on the island, a long, narrow pebble strip with turquoise waters overlooking Lefkada and the island Noose.

During World War II, the island played the role of hideout for the historic submarine Papanikolis, which had been hidden in a cave so as not to be overwhelmed by the hostile forces, after which the cave was named. It is now one of the main sights of the place but also a historical monument to all of Greece.
